The home of Red Bull Romaniacs is in mainland Europe in the ancient medieval city of Sibiu in the heart of Transylvania. Red Bull Romaniacs event is one of the toughest of all the extreme motorcycle events on planet earth!! For four off roads days, a constant battle with stamina, fitness and strength takes place, the steep climbs and descents, and fighting the too hot or very cold weather just to get to the finish. This is not a leisurely ride across some mountains, it a mental battle to just keep going on and on, pushing both body and machine to the very limits of endurance while striving to get to the finish line before anyone else.
The first offroad-day of Red Bull Romaniacs Rallye 2009 has now been, gone and it were the experienced riders to score, the strong rookies from prologue were fenced off. Kiwi Chris Birch, 2007 third and 2008 second in Pro-Class won, but only just ahead of the triple RBR Champ Cyril Despres from Andorra. In third sits German Andreas Lettenbichler.
Anthony Green obviously loves his paragliding, so when he stumbled upon the small town Segura de la Sierra on the top of a mountain with an overlooking, picturesque castle called Territoria de Frontera he seized his chance to take off from it in a very dangerous, technical and extreme way!!
Here is a little taster of what you can expect from Travis and the rest of the Nitro Circus nutters!
Nitro Circus Season 2 in coming up soon. It premieres Thursday August 27, 2009 at 10PM on MTV. Make sure to tune in and watch these action junkies or make sure and set the DVR. But until then, see what we have got coming your way! And if you don’t know what Nitro Circus is, shame on you…go find out!
In the words of Travis, “We’re doing the same thing we do every day…we’re trying to not to die!” Gotta love that as a motto!
Just as the title suggests, the bar for BMX tricks has once again been lifted! This time with a double front flip over the mega ramp. Anthony Napolitan is the genius responsible. Its was X-Games 15 and he’d tried already but hadn’t quite got it, one last go to prove himself…down the roll in, up the ramp and over he goes, once, twice landing perfectly then getting huge height up the vert before a long landing and the sound of the whole staples centre on their feet applauding the first lever landed double front flip in X-Games, Mega ramp and BMX history!
This to me is the most extreme a someone can get…I may’ve said that the human slingshot was, but that was before i saw this! The adrenaline rush you’d get doing this would be utterly unimagineable!! Firstly doing some insane off piste skiing but rather than picking a route to the bottom, you see the route with the best kicker off the edge of the summit and launch yourself off it throwing down some flips in the process. However its not over yet, next it’s time to unleash the wingsuit and fly around and through the mountains literally like a bird! Or as its known, a flying squirrel!
As you can see in the video these people are getting insanely close to the edge of the mountains, quiteliterally touching the void. If you can’t say this is extreme then you need to have a go, I know I will be as soon as I can!
Let us know if you’ve done it or want to do it, what your thoughts are and anything you could add to this sport to make even more extreme.
Now when i first saw this I had to check it out, an 8 year old doing back flips, 360′s and tail whips, granted he doesnt land them and are often into foam pits…but give the little dude some credit! He rides a 12 inch bike and does so very well! Definitley one to keep an eye on for the future Dew Tours and X-Games. Speaking of which, X-Games 15 started today! Keep an eye out here as we’ll keep you updated on the days ahead with reults and video footage. But anyway check out this BMX legend to be and tell us what you think!
It was Day 4 of the Nike 6.0 Huntington Beach BMX Pro, held alongside the US Open of Surfing. Keeping with a theme that is steeped in tradition, there are ladies present. Everyone is behaving, except for Daniel Dhers.
He takes his chance to crudely introduce his latest, greatest, and possibly dirtiest creation…the CASH ROLL! I believe this is one of the most insane and brave moves yet, as he says he’s blind for most of the trick! Utter Nutter!
But there’s no point in asking him how or why he does is…as he doesn’t even know him self! Best just leave him to it until he perfects it!
Have you ever wondered what is must be like to be catapulted/slung shot (however you want to call it) straight up into the air? sort of like the ball cages you can do it in…but with out being secured to anything other than a parachute! This is by far the most fun looking thing i’ve seen in a long time!
Your placed in the hammock type device on the ground of the slingshot and fired god knows how high, then when you reach your highest altitude you deploy your parachute. This is immensely extreme and so dangerous as the slightest malfunction could see you being shot too low or the wrong direction and…well use your imagination!
So, who thinks they’re extreme enough to do it?
I think i’d give it a go…once i’ve learnt to skydive that is!
The Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro kicked off in full swing last week and some crazy moves were being pulled out by all the riders.
After 3 intense days of riding the course, the 20 riders in the Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro were clearly getting along with the course out there as they are pulling out more and more insane moves with each day of competition.
However today Scotty Cranmer was the one to watch as he seamlessly nailed the run he’s been eyeing up all week. Day three showed a suprise drop for Daniel Dhers moving down to 4th place after finishing top in the 2 previous days. Because of the way the points system works, Scotty knew he had to go big, or he was going home without riding in the finals.
Here are some highlights from today to go along with the the results and video below…
- Matt Sparks once again did flair really, really, really high.
- Nicholi Rogatkin put together his best run of the week with a 360 whip, superman, flair, 540s, tailwhips, and a barspin. When he gets on a bigger bike and can start getting more speed and height, he will no double be placing higher in contests. Keep your eyes on this thirteen year old from Boston in the coming years.
- Austin Coleman is still the king of double downside whips on quarters.
- Marcus Tooker 720ed the box backwards.
- Garrett Reynolds crashed in both of his runs, but still had enough points from the previous days to make it to the finals.
- Josh Perry did a truckdriver to barspin to late tailwhip, just barely slipping a pedal.
- Mike Spinner did a triple whip over the long box.
- Allan Cooke whipped the same huge gap he barspun yesterday. He crashed on it once, but pulled it for himself and the crowd after time had expired.
- Andy Buckworth has his runs dialed on this course and they were just as awesome today as they were the last two days.
- Ryan Guettler did a double flip.
- Diogo Canina’s full-throttle, smooth, brakeless style and ambidextrous riding helped him score the second spot today. His run included an opposite 360 lookback on the box, a 720 on the long box, and of course his gnarly 16ft flair transfer that he also did the last two days.
- Scotty Cranmer put together two nearly flawless runs and was on top of the leader board all day. It took three days of competition, but he finally nailed all the lines and tricks he has been going for, and it paid off in a big way.
- Rob Darden had to fly back to Greenville due to a death in the family. (Our thoughts are with Rob and his family.) Even though he did really well the last two days, because he didn’t ride and collect any points today, Rob will not be in tomorrow’s finals.

Now it starts as a normal interview with, what looks like Fagan from Oliver Twist, who mid sentence notices something in the sky. Is it a bird is a plane? It certainly isn’t superman, its an unfortunate kite surfer! Apparently it happened in Maui, which is known for strange thermal winds. The only reason he went high and further was because he wasn’t attached to the kite so had to hold on which made it go, higher and further.
Don’t let this put you off kite surfing though!? It’s a great sport and this is a rare and unfortunate incident…especially for the dude in this video!
